We encountered a specific crashing error with WMFVideoPlayer starting on March 14th. After investigation, it is caused by a recent Windows Security Update(KB4489899). Link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4489899/windows-10-update-kb4489899.
The crash is only getting triggered under certain circumstances. Although a temporary solution is provided in the KB, it didn’t work for us.
If you have an app running a library that utilizes Windows Media Foundation. It is recommended to uninstall this update. You can do it in the control panel -> installed updates. Defer security update (max 30 days) is also helpful.
EDIT: it looks like this issue only exists on Windows 10 version 1809.
